What is laser engraving?
Way back in 1964, Kumar Patel, a really smart guy from Bell Labs, invented the carbon dioxide (CO2) laser. The CO2 laser produces a beam of infrared light with specific wavelength bands that are used to either engrave onto an object or cut through it. Materials that can be laser engraved can be made of wood, metal, marble, granite, acrylic, glass and much more.

Does the price on your website include laser engraving?
Yes, the prices listed on the product pages include one-sided laser engraving. Optional second engraving is available on certain items. Contact us at TraditionsEngraving@gmail.com prior to placing an order to inquire about double-sided engraving - the cost is minimal.

How many characters will fit in the image area?
That's difficult to say as each image area is different for each product. Keep in mind, "less is more." The more text used, the smaller the font size will be. Your text will be clearly legible - but if we notice there is an issue, we will contact you prior to the engraving.

Do you accept rush orders?
We can accept rush orders, but will be handled in a case-by-case manner. Please contact us at TraditionsEngraving@gmail.com to discuss your situation.

Do you charge a set-up fee?
Items sold on our website do not require a set-up fee. We have already mapped out the area where engraving or printing will occur. Special order items or one of a kind items will require a set-up fee. If you reorder that particular item again, the set-up fee is waived.

Can I get my logo on the product?
Most generally, yes, but a lot depends on the quality of your file. We can combine your logo with text if you request or just your logo. Please note that very detailed logos may not work well on small items. Also, in order for a clean engraving, we would require the highest resolution image possible of your logo.

What file formats do you accept for my logo or artwork?
We can work with the following file types: AI, EPS, TIF, JPG, PNG, BMP, and CDR. Fonts should be converted to outlines with all imported TIFF and EPS files. If this sounds confusing to you, no problem ... just contact us and we'll work with you.

How do I know if my photo or artwork will work?
The quality of the image greatly determines the quality of the finished piece. Please contact us at TraditionsEngraving@gmail.com to discuss your needs and we can figure out something to help. When it comes to image size, the larger the image the better. With that said, its better to not resize the image or crop it before sending the file. If you need help getting your photo/scan to us please don't hesitate to contact us.

Most images are acceptable for engraving or printing, some are not. The ones that are not usually have certain issues such as being faded, very low detail, too light or too dark. Usually the higher the detail and the better the contrast the better the results. Some images may just need a minor adjustment, which we are able to do at no additional cost.

What is the best way to scan my image in for engraving?
Again ... size matters! Scans should be a MINIMUM of 300dpi. If you have the option of scanning at 600dpi or 1200dpi - all the better!

How do I get my personal photo, artwork or logo to you for engraving or color printing?
You can email it to us at artwork.file.upload@gmail.com, or if the file is really large (over 12MG) and you have an email account through Google, we can walk you through how to send that whopper of a file to us very easily.

Do I need permission from the photographer to print or engrave my photo?
If you are submitting a photo from a professional photographer, we require written permission from the photographer, along with their phone number. We will not reproduce photos or artwork that has a copyright, this includes logos for college or professional sports, recording artists, etc., UNLESS you provide verified permission and a way for us to contact the owner of the copyright.

Artwork Approval
In most cases, we will email a customer proof that requests a final approval prior to going to production. We will not proceed without approval. Once we receive approval, production begins. If changes are requested after the product has gone to production, the customer is responsible for additional charges. This is noted on the actual proof.

Cancelled Orders
Cancelled orders will be billed for all work completed. Since our work is custom, we are not able to sell personalized items to other customers. No returns accepted unless there is a printing/typo error that we are responsible for.

Shipping
If you purchase our awards, we will deliver free within Knox County. Otherwise, we will ship items either USP Ground or Priority Mail. All orders are shipped from Mount Vernon, OH 43050. Shipping damages should be reported at the time of delivery with the shipping company. Your completed items are professionally packaged prior to leaving our facility.

I received my order from Traditions Engraving, but it looks like this box came from another company, what's up with that?
Looks like you caught us being environmentally responsible again! Sometimes we will re-use a box that we received supplies in, or has been donated to us. It makes sense to re-use a box that is still in great shape to ship our products. Less waste = less in our landfill. Boxes we receive that are poor quality will not be used to ship out our products as we regularly drop these off at our local recycle bins. We won't apologize for wanting to help the environment of our grandchildren, and yours too!

Payment
We accept payment by credit card through Square and PayPal. You do not need to sign up for a Square or PayPal account in order to use your own credit card.

Do you offer fund raising opportunities?
Yes we do! If you are looking for a way to make money for your school or organization, we can help with providing products that are personalized for your organization, and in some cases, individual names. Cool, huh? Contact us at TraditionsEngraving@gmail.com to fill us in on your needs and we'll see if we can help you out.

Do you accept returns on orders?
Due to the nature of our business, we cannot accept any returns on custom engraving or sublimated products. Measurement, quantity, sizes or typos sent from our customers is the responsibility of the customer. However, if WE make an error on an order due to measurement, quantity, sizes or typos, we will make it right.

If I had a watch or piece of jewelry that I want engraved, can you do that?
Unfortunately, we do not engrave items such as watch backs, metal jewelry, rings, firearms, knife blades, chrome or stainless steel. We're simply not set up to do that type of engraving.

What are the size limitations?
For most projects, we can laser engrave items up to 12" x 24". The height of the item is a variable, so please contact us to see if we can accommodate your request. Weight is also an issue, so please communicate the actual weight of your item ... guessing is a no-no.

I live nearby, can I come into your facility to order my engraving?
We are an internet-based business and do not have an actual store front. The location of our manufacturing process strictly forbids unauthorized visitors and foot traffic due to insurance and liability concerns.

What is the best way to contact someone at Traditions Engraving?
On the right side of this website, you will see various social media icons which will put you in touch with us. At bottom right is the Facebook Messenger button that you can use to contact us. You are welcome to give us a call or text message at (740) 481-1515 from 8:00am - 5:00pm EST. Please leave us a message - we will normally return your call the same day, but if it's after 5:00pm, we will respond the next day. We are closed on Saturday and Sunday to recharge our batteries and enjoy our family. You can leave an email anytime at TraditionsEngraving@gmail.com and we will respond within a few hours, or sooner.
